We're Back, and the Waitlist Is Gone
Outerview is open to anyone now — no queue, no approval email. Here's what we did over the Finnish summer and what the rest of the year looks like.
The waitlist is gone. Go to outerview.app, make an account, and you can be talking to Maya a few minutes later. No queue, no approval email, nobody deciding whether you’re a good fit.
We put that waitlist up when the product could break in ways we couldn’t fix fast enough. That reason expired, so we tore the whole thing out. If you were on the list waiting to hear from us, there’s no email coming — just go make an account.
Before that, we did what Finland does in July. One of us spent most of it on a renovation that was supposed to take two weeks. There was a lot of sport, a lot of being outside, and a lot of time with families who’d been putting up with a startup for a year.
We came back with opinions we didn’t have in June, most of them from talking to people who use Outerview and writing down what they said. The pattern wasn’t a missing feature. It’s that the posts we generate aren’t consistently good enough. When the pipeline works, you get something you’d put your name on. When it doesn’t, you get something that reads like a competent stranger wrote about your idea — and which one you get depends on things you can’t see or control. Closing that gap is the first job of the second half. We’d rather make three posts you’d publish than six you’d have to rewrite.
Teams are next. A campaign — one brief that several people on a team each get interviewed against — is the part of the product we’re most convinced by and least done with. The interview side works. Everything after it is thinner than it should be.
The rest of July went to cleaning up after a hectic spring: big files broken into small ones, dead code deleted, real tests around the parts that cost money when they break. Not one new button in any of it. It’s just why the next six months can move faster than the last six.
The renovation is still not finished…
