Privacy Policy

Outerview ("we", "us", "our") is a project based in Finland, operating under Finnish and European Union law. We are the data controller for personal data processed through our service at outerview.app.

We collect the following categories of personal data:

• Account data: Email address, name, and hashed password when you create an account.
• Voice recordings: Audio captured during AI-conducted interviews. Recordings are processed in real time and are not permanently stored as audio files.
• Transcripts: Text transcriptions generated from your voice interviews.
• Generated content: LinkedIn posts and other content generated from your interviews.
• Usage data: Interview history, post edits, feature usage, and preferences.
• Payment data: Payment and subscription information is processed by Stripe. We do not store your full credit card number.
• Technical data: IP address, browser type, and device information collected automatically.

We process your personal data for the following purposes:

• Providing the interview and content generation service (legal basis: contract performance).
• Processing payments and managing subscriptions (legal basis: contract performance).
• Improving our service and AI quality (legal basis: legitimate interest). We have conducted a Legitimate Interest Assessment (LIA) for this processing activity. Transcripts sent to third-party AI providers are used solely for generating your content and are not retained by those providers for model training.
• Sending essential service communications (legal basis: contract performance).
• Complying with legal obligations (legal basis: legal obligation).

Our service relies on third-party AI providers to deliver core functionality. You should be aware of the following:

• OpenAI: Your voice audio is streamed to OpenAI's Realtime API for transcription and voice interaction during interviews. OpenAI processes this data under their data processing terms. Audio is not retained by OpenAI for training purposes under our API agreement.
• Anthropic (Claude): Your interview transcripts are sent to Anthropic's Claude API to generate LinkedIn posts and content. Anthropic processes this data under their data processing terms and does not use API inputs for model training.
• Stripe: Payment processing is handled entirely by Stripe. Your payment details are sent directly to Stripe and are subject to Stripe's privacy policy.

We have Data Processing Agreements (DPAs) in place with our sub-processors as required under GDPR.

• Account data: Retained for the duration of your account. Deleted within 30 days of account deletion.
• Voice recordings: Processed in real time and not permanently stored as audio. Transcripts are retained with your account.
• Transcripts and generated posts: Retained for the duration of your account unless you delete them earlier. When you delete your account, all transcripts and generated content are permanently deleted within the same 30-day window as account data.
• Payment records: Retained as required by Finnish accounting law (typically 6 years).
• Technical logs: Retained for up to 90 days.

As an EU resident, you have the following rights regarding your personal data:

• Right of access: Request a copy of all personal data we hold about you.
• Right to rectification: Request correction of inaccurate personal data.
• Right to erasure: Request deletion of your personal data ("right to be forgotten").
• Right to data portability: Receive your data in a structured, machine-readable format.
• Right to restrict processing: Request that we limit how we use your data.
• Right to object: Object to processing based on legitimate interest.
• Right to withdraw consent: Where processing is based on consent, you may withdraw it at any time.

To exercise any of these rights, contact us at info@outerview.app. We will respond within 30 days as required by GDPR. If you are unsatisfied with our response, you have the right to lodge a complaint with the Finnish Data Protection Ombudsman (tietosuojavaltuutettu).

Our service uses AI to generate content (such as LinkedIn posts) from your interview transcripts. This involves automated processing of your input. However, no decisions with legal or similarly significant effects are made solely by automated means. You always review, edit, and approve all generated content before it is published. You are in full control of what gets published.

We use the following types of cookies:

• Essential cookies: Required for authentication and session management. These are strictly necessary for the service to function and do not require consent under ePrivacy regulations.
• Analytics cookies: We use Google Analytics to understand how visitors use our site. These cookies are only placed after you give explicit consent via our cookie banner. You can withdraw consent at any time by clearing your browser cookies, which will prompt the consent banner again.

We do not use advertising or tracking cookies.

Some of our sub-processors (OpenAI, Anthropic, Stripe) are based in the United States. Data transfers to the US are conducted under appropriate safeguards, including Standard Contractual Clauses (SCCs) and the EU-US Data Privacy Framework where applicable.

We implement appropriate technical and organizational measures to protect your personal data, including encrypted connections (TLS), hashed passwords, and access controls. However, no method of electronic transmission or storage is 100% secure.

Our service is not directed at individuals under the age of 16. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children.

We may update this privacy policy from time to time. Material changes will be communicated via email or a notice within the service. Continued use of the service after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
